Easy Jet 4 Ski

9th December 2005, by Chris Gill

A joint online venture between EasyJet and online ski retailer Igluski will allow skiers to package their own tailor-made trips through a new website.

The new site, www.easyJet4ski.com, offers access to 54,000 beds in more than 250 resorts within reach of the carrier’s budget flights to France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. The trend towards flexible breaks is gradually being recognised by the travel industry, and the new site aims to help the independent traveller find accommodation suited to their requirements. EasyJet said: “www.easyJet4ski.com will revolutionise the ski market and change the way we think of ski holidays, giving skiers the opportunity to travel several times a season instead of the traditional one week a year.”

Hoteliers are realising the importance of offering flexible short stays as well as the traditional Saturday to Saturday market. Over a quarter of the accommodation available on the new site is for short-stays and weekend visits, with up to 90 percent included in the online booking system. A specialist Iglu team can also be contacted by email or telephone. The site also details transfer times from the nearest airport to allow independent skiers to link the most accessible ski resorts to a particular flight.

Igluski.com chief executive Richard Downs claimed: “This is a major breakthrough for the independent skier. It will save them time and money and, we believe, lead to a massive increase in the number of people packaging their own ski holiday.
