While most ski resorts have closed now — or are closing this weekend — there’s a surprising end-of-season celebration going on in Scotland at the moment.

This morning, Cairngorm mountain reports “amazing snowsports” on offer, with clear skies and powder following good snowfall throughout the week. Lift passes are now just £23 for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile the Nevis Range also has fresh snow, and last week reopened one lift for ski mountaineers. Our main image (top) was captured at Braveheart Chair yesterday by local photographer Mark Trigg who says: “I’ve never seen the Back Corries looking so loaded going into May. Photo this morning after further snow showers and still more to come!”

“Most Scottish resorts close through lack of customers rather than snow,” said Heather Negus from Nevis Range. “We don’t plan to open any more lifts now but if people want to hike up or go up in the gondola that is running. It’s very white up there!”

It’s been dumping in Glencoe, too — this picture was taken yesterday, with more snow to come!
