French gondolas get new safety stickers

19th May 2008, by Chris Gill

French gondola cabins are receiving new safety stickers, clearly indicating how to behave when riding the lifts.

The government initiative follows a man’s death in Chamonix this season, when he fell from a gondola after the window in it was broken.

The stickers advise occupants to remain seated during the ride and not to lean or push against the windows and doors.

Over 10,000 gondola cabins are expected to display the new stickers.
