New five-star hotel in Villars

3rd November 2008, by Chris Gill

The Swiss resort of Villars will open its first ski-in ski-out luxury hotel this winter.

The new five-star Chalet RoyAlp Hotel and Spa opens in the resort on 01 December and features 63 luxury double rooms and 27 suites, as well as a sumptuous spa facility.

Villars is well-known as a family-friendly resort and the key attraction of the new hotel is its small cinema - where children will have priority for two hours each day (four to 6pm). And there will also be a choice of restaurants, one of which - the Petit Prince - has a dedicated children’s corner. But there is something for the adults too, including two lounge bars.

Villars is close to Geneva and easily reached by train. The ski area offers fairly extensive intermediate slopes, linked to Les Diablerets, and children can ski for free up to aged nine - so it’s generally considered a good value family resort, though its low altitude means snow cover can be unreliable.
