Next season’s flights on sale now…

So, as one season ends what do you do? Getting planning the next. And several airlines have jumped in early to put their winter 2009/10 flights on sale.

Two no-frills carriers, easyJet and Flybe have released winter flights almost a month earlier than usual. For easyJet that means routes from Gatwick are now available, including additional flights to its newest destinations - Munich and Zurich. Flights to Munich will increase to three services per day and Zurich, two.

As usual, the best deals are on mid-week, off-peak dates/times. For those of you hoping to get a good half-term deal (13 February - 20 February 2010), prices to Geneva start at £171.98 per person for a ‘Saturday to Saturday’ flight. For Munich, the cheapest fare for the same dates is currently £119.98.

It’s too early to tell if people will book at this time of year. Perhaps it’s a sign of concern in these difficult times. But certainly anyone committed to booking a Christmas or half-term ski trip could secure their place early at a reasonable fare.

Flybe has also announced 29 of its best winter routes are on sale early. Examples include routes from Exeter, Birmingham and Southampton to destinations such as Chambéry and Salzburg.

Jet2.com has had its winter timetable on sale for a few weeks, with prices starting at £19.99 (one way) to Geneva from Leeds, Manchester and Blackpool.

For a low-cost weekly charter flight, Snowjet has winter 09/10 flights to Chambery on sale from £29.99 if you book before 31 August. The key attraction for Saturday travellers is that the company offers free ski carriage and a 20kg allowance. You can travel from Bristol, Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester.
