Ski Amis has seven different chalets in La Tania, all of which have been popular this season
WHERE TO SKI AND SNOWBOARD PROMOTION
The French ski resort of La Tania in the Three Valleys has been something of a sensation this winter for family ski chalet company Ski Amis — with entire weeks selling out and much of the rest of the season booking fast.
La Tania, at 1400m, was purpose built for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, and offers a great-value location from which to access the 600km of pistes in the Three Valleys, the world’s largest ski area.
Situated between Courchevel and Meribel, with easy access to both, accommodation and restaurant prices are much lower in La Tania than its glitzier neighbours — Ski Amis currently has some last-minute rooms available at just £349pp, fully catered with some including free ferry travel, too.

Suitable for everyone from families to couples to groups of friends, the car-free village centre has a traditional Alpine feel with mainly chalet-style buildings, but there are also numerous self-catered apartments and a couple of hotels — all offering plenty of choice.
Ski Amis have a wide selection of quality catered chalets in The Three Valleys and seven of them are in La Tania — with both standard and premium-service chalets sleeping from between eight and 28 people — there is a chalet and price to suit all.
“We operate in multiple resorts across the Three Valleys and La Tania is always the first to sell,” says Tia Davies from Ski Amis. “Most of our customers are returning guests. Some guests that have stayed with us at the beginning of this season have booked to come back again this year or have already secured a large chalet for their family at Christmas. We love to have returning guests and offer great discounts when they choose to come back with us — we have some groups of guests that have been staying with us, every year, for 28 years.”
Indeed, the Where to Ski and Snowboard team stayed with Ski Amis back in 2011, and Editor Gill enjoyed a few days in Chalet Balkiss back in February 2014, while refreshing his knowledge of the local are — read his blog here.
Ski Amis ensures all of its staff are skiers, which means they can help point you in the right direction for your needs and know what it’s like to come back at the end of a long day on the slopes — looking for some R&R. All but one of Ski Amis’ chalets have hot-tubs, some have saunas and they are all situated in great locations close to the pistes, offering full English breakfasts, unlimited afternoon tea and belly-warming evening meals. Premium Service chalets offer extra touches including canapes before dinner and cheeseboard afterwards, as well as a choice of pillows and cosy bathrobes.

This year, the season in La Tania closes on Sunday 15 April (though some of the higher resorts in the Three Valleys remain open until 8 May). Despite the fact it’s only at 1400m, La Tania has a brilliant snow record — thanks to its north-facing slopes and tree-lined runs, the snow stays for much longer than other areas at this height, helped of course by the amazing snowfall this year.
The only thing Ski Amis doesn’t organise is travel out to France. La Tania is very accessible – from Geneva and Grenoble airports, it is around 2.5 hours, and just 1.5 hours from Chambery. Moutiers is just 30 minutes away if you plump for the Eurostar, and if you opt to drive down to resort, then from Calais it is 610 miles — and Ski Amis is currently offering free ferry crossings for guests booking for travel between 31 March and 7 April.
“We don’t book flights because we like our guests to have flexible travel options, but we offer in-house transfers at an additional cost,” says Tia.
All sound tempting? Then a tailor-made, bespoke holiday to La Tania with Ski Amis starts from £349 per person for the remainder of the season – check out their ski deals page here to see all their offers.
