Skies alight for Arcs opening
Arc 1950, France, celebrated its grand opening last weekend (15/16 December) with an action-packed weekend of themed entertainment and magical snow conditions to welcome the new winter season.
Visitors to the alpine village enjoyed a dazzling display of fireworks and 1950’s themed gala events as part of the official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Intrawest’s first European ski development is complete and fully open.
Home owners, International press members and Intrawest officials gathered to share the party atmosphere with other guests. And the entertainment didn’t stop there: throughout the weekend the streets were filled with circus performers, ice-sculpting, dog-sledding and ski-joering activities.
And Les Arcs’ opening weekend was blessed with fine winter conditions: blue skies and superb snowfall for those lucky enough to enjoy the first runs and lifts. Over 160cm snow has fallen in recent weeks, promising good conditions for the festive break. Temperatures are currently hovering around zero to minus two degrees; sunshine expected to continue in the run-up to Christmas.
“Having just returned from Arc 1950 I honestly believe that the conditions were the best I have seen for many years in December,” says Managing Director for Erna Low Holidays, Jane Bolton.
“We have seen unprecedented demand for Le Village this season and with prices starting at £122 per person in January, based on 6 persons sharing a two bedroom classic apartment, it is not hard to see why.”
