Take a gamble on Kitzbuhel

It might be a low resort with a less-than-reliable snow record,  but one of Austria’s best is moving up market.

Kitzbühel is setting its sights high with a huge investment in both resort and mountain improvements. Focusing on the top end of its tourism market, the resort is adding 400 beds to the four- and five-star accommodation range and renovating others. Expansions include the Kaiserhotel; and the luxury A-ROSA hotel with sports complex is due to open shortly.

If your après-ski taste is more tuxedo than denim, then Kitzbühel’s famous casino has just got better too; newly upgraded, with gourmet dining, wine bar and an entertainment programme to match, this seventy-year old landmark marches on in style. Three trendy new bars have also joined the troop in the old town.

Back on the mountain, and Kitzbühel has teamed up with the Ski Welt resorts in one direction and Resterhöhe in the other. A new gondola runs between Hollersbach and Resterhöhe, and the ‘Ki-West’ lift leads the way to Westendorf at Kirchberg.

Ski the miles then sleep in style in Kitzbühel!
