Utah team skis thirteen resorts in a day

22nd January 2009, by Chris Gill

It might seem daft but there was method behind the madness as a team of skiers and boarders set out to ski all 13 Utah resorts in one day.

The enthusiastic bunch of locals set themselves the challenge to demonstrate the convenience of Utah’s ski areas, which all are located within a fairly short drive of each other and ideal for a touring holiday.

The existing record of 11 resorts in a day had been held since 2003/04, but the Ski Utah team managed to break that in a 14-hour challenge that began at 4.30am at Brian Head resort.

The team skied a trail or two at each area, before hopping into their support van and moving on to the next resort. They had to be especially nice to the lift operators who opened the lifts to accommodate the event - the start and finish also meant the team completed the first and last runs of the day in darkness.
