A-Basin offers ski-in, ski-out Covid jabs

Arapahoe Basin hosts a ski-in, ski-out Covid vaccine clinic on Sunday, 16 May

Getting your Covid vaccine will be a complete pleasure for some Colorado skiers next weekend, as Arapahoe Basin hosts a ski-in, ski-out Covid vaccine clinic.

On Sunday 16 May, from noon until 4pm, Arapahoe Basin ski area will offer 200 free Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccines on a first-come, first-served basis — and anyone vaccinated will also get a free beer, bloody mary or soft drink, nice!

Arapahoe Basin is in Summit County, Colorado, where so far 62 per cent of residents have been vaccinated. The ski resort is hosting the Covid vaccine centre in conjunction with the Summit County Health Department — and the jabs are available for anyone, not just Colorado residents. Undoubtedly the US approach is slightly different to that in the UK!

In another boost for medics, Arapahoe Basin is offering discounted lift passes for nurses on Wednesday, 12 May for International Nurses Day.

With Covid case levels dropping in Summit County, masks are no longer required outside at the ski area (though they are required indoors) and there are no restrictions on capacity at A-Basin any more.

The ski area, which has one of the longest seasons in North America, is planning to stay open until Sunday 6 June, conditions permitting.
