A number of ski-themed bars are opening in the UK this autumn, getting skiers and snowboarders ready for their Alpine fix.

On Friday 9 November, a new pub called The White Haus in Farringdon will open to the public, with three floors of mountain chalet-style décor from roaring fires, sheepskin throws, old skis on the walls, quirky ski memorabilia, snowflake chandeliers and even a cable car for six that can be pre-booked for dinner or drinks. Much of the memorabilia has been provided by the Ski Club of Great Britain, and a full-size TV will be screening old ski movies and winter sporting events.

Food will be served from brunch to dinner, including the likes of emmental croque monsieur (or madame), mountain burgers and savoyarde salads, as well as tartiflette and good old apple strudel.

The night before (8 November) Big Chill Kings Cross is opening its new-look heated and covered rooftop pop-up bar called ‘The Peaks’.  The log cabin bar will be decked out ski-lodge style, with a mountainous backdrop, fern tree and a wintery cocktail menu to be enjoyed with friends under a cosy blanket. The Peaks rooftop bar will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5pm, from Thursday 8 November until Saturday 22 December.

And further north in Windemere in the Lake District, an Après Spice Dome will open at The Gilpin Hotel from 1 December to late February, with a bar, wood-burning stove and snug seating, along with speciality winter cocktails, chocolate grappa and fruit schnapps.
