Ancient Chamonix cable car being replaced at last

The old cable-car that is being replaced
The ancient 60-person cable car (originally built in 1956) from Les Praz in the valley to the Flégère ski area is being replaced for the 2019/20 season by a new 10-seater gondola. This much-needed improvement will eliminate the huge queues (sometimes an hour long) to get both up and down the mountain (the only piste down to the valley is a black run which can have poor snow conditions or be closed in warm weather).
The new gondola will more than quadruple the carrying capacity from 450 people per hour to 2000 people per hour.
The new gondola cabins will each seat 10 people
