Arapahoe Basin in Colorado has announced plans for a new lift next winter, which continues recent investment to redefine the resort as an international ski area.

A fast quad is due to replace the Exhibition triple chair, which has operated in the resort since 1978. The new lift will halve the current ride time from the base area towards the mid-mountain lodge, taking just three minutes to whisk visitors up to the slopes.

The top station will be slightly realigned to the west of the Black Mountain Lodge, but still provide quick access to the lodge and to the Montezuma Bowl – part of the newly expanded area that opened a couple of seasons ago, and almost doubled the available terrain at the resort.

A-Basin is an exceptionally high ski area close to Keystone, and makes a great day trip. It is covered on the same lift pass and there is a free bus connecting to two ski areas. The resort also enjoys a very long season that regularly ends in June.

If you fancy winning a season pass for the resort, you could have a go at suggesting a name for the new chairlift…
