British Airways will begin flying from Manchester to Salzburg and Chambery this winter, gateways to some of Europe’s top ski resorts.

The new flights are directed at skiers and snowboarders and will operate every Saturday from December through to April, with one-way fares to both cities starting at £49 and available to book from today.

The flights — using a modern Embraer 190 jet aircraft — to Salzburg will leave Manchester every Saturday at 1.05pm, arriving in Salzburg at 4.20pm, with the return flight at 5.10pm, arriving in Manchester at 6.30pm. Flights to Chambery will leave Manchester at 7am every Saturday, arriving in Chambery at 10am, with the return flight at 10.55am, arriving in Manchester at 12 noon.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager customer and commercial, said: “After a successful new summer programme from Manchester we have decided to continue our leisure flying with direct services to two of the most popular winter break destinations in Austria and France.”
