British Airways is starting flights from Stansted to Chambéry Savoie Airport tomorrow, Saturday 17 December, offering skiers a new route to the Alps.

Flights will leave Stansted at 7.20am returning at 10.50am on Saturdays and at 8.20am returning at 11.50am on Sundays. The new twice-weekly service to Chambéry will complement the British Airways service from London City Airport which operates three times a week increasing to a daily service over the Christmas and New Year period.

Chambéry — which was refurbished this year — offers quick access to a host of French resorts in the Tarentaise including Val d’Isere, La Plagne, Meribel and Courchevel. The new flights start from £49 one way — though this price doesn’t include ski carriage.

British Airways started flying from Stansted for the first time in May this year, adding a fourth London airport to its network.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager commercial and customer said: “British Airways has enjoyed a very successful first summer at Stansted and we are delighted to launch Chambery Savoie, our first winter-only service offering skiers and winter sports enthusiasts a gateway to one of the best Alpine snow regions direct from their doorstep.”

The Stansted to Chambéry flight is only for the winter, and will operate until 16 April 2017. For more details and to book, visit ba.com
