The Big Snow Festival is back for 2012, with a cool new line-up, exciting new partner and a new venue.

The Big Snow Festival is heading for Serbia next March, joining forces with the legendary EXIT festival organisers. EXIT is recognised as one of the leading music festivals. Together the two teams will put together a mega winter party in Serbia’s largest resort, Kopaonik.

Big Snow debuted in Arinsal, Andorra, in 2010 and proved itself to be one of the wildest snow parties in the Alps. It’s success took it back to Pyrenees for 2011. The organisers reckon that the move to Serbia’s Dinanic mountains will bring an exciting new angle to the event, double its size, and be a hit as a value-for-money destination. With EXIT’s musical input, they are planning some fantastic entertainment both on and off the slopes.

Kopaonik is small by Alpine standards, with only 62km pistes – but Serbia has invested a fair amount sprucing up its resorts in recent seasons. The 23 lifts serve varied terrain up to 2015m. Most of the runs are of blue difficulty, so mainly suited to intermediates and beginners; but there are a handful of reds and blacks. The resort has a decent selection of accommodation, and the Big Snow organisers are offering good deals – weekly packages start at £449pp (including a lift pass and festival ticket) and can be booked through www.nomud.com

A big attraction to party-snow fans is Kopaonik’s low prices: local beers at 1-2 euros (mine’s a pint, then!). It’s even cheaper in the local supermarkets – not that we’re encouraging the boozing … And restaurant meals can be had for 5-10 euros, fast food such as a burger from 1-3 euros.

What are you waiting for?

Big Snow kicks off on 23 March, until 29 March 2012. There are flights to Belgrade from London Heathrow, Luton and Manchester.
