Borovets has more bars per square km than any other ski resort, says Crystal

The ski resort of Borovets in Bulgaria has won the title of “Ultimate Après-Ski Resort” with the most bars per square kilometre, following extensive research by Crystal Ski Holidays.

According to the search engine analytics tool Google AdWords, the term ‘après-ski’ was searched more than 22,500 times between December 2014 and April 2015, so last autumn Crystal set about finding out which resort had the most to offer.

We’re not sure quite how scientific the research was, but Borovets, it turns out, has “approximately” four bars per square kilometre. And with pints costing little more than a pound during happy hour, it’s no surprise.

In second and third place came the popular French ski resorts of Meribel and Courchevel respectively. The lively resort of Pas de la Casa in Andorra came in fourth place, with around 1.8 bars per square km followed closely by the Austrian ski resort of Schladming.

A spokesman from Borovets tourism office said: “To have quality après, you need quality avant-ski, and Borovets has that, too. The ski-in and ski-out resort in the highest Balkan mountain combines perfect skiing conditions with daily visits to rich cultural and historic sites, unique local cuisine and unrivalled hospitality.”

Now, the question is, do you agree?
