Skiers who like to stay in Bourg Saint Maurice have a great new route directly into the Les Arcs ski area this winter.

The funicular that has taken skiers and snowboarders directly into Arc 1600 from the valley floor — where the Eurostar also stops — has had a complete face-lift for the coming winter season. The funicular is just a seven-minute ride from Bourg Saint Maurice to Les Arcs, and now a new metal structure covers the station and waiting area, as well as new trains with glass roofs to make the journey more comfortable.

Screens will broadcast real-time images from the webcams dotted around the mountains of Les Arcs and there will be a manned, comprehensive information centre and ticket desk.

For those wishing to stay in Bourg, a new lodge is opening up for this winter offering a range of accommodation from luxury suites to single rooms and even ‘capsule’ rooms, a superb new offering for budget-conscious skiers.

Also in Les Arcs – this time in Arc 1800 – apres-ski enthusiasts will be pleased to hear of the arrival of La Folie Douce. The famous party destination will open its latest spot on 14 December, accessible by gondola, on skis or by foot — open until 7pm every evening.
