The British ski and snowboard teams will receive an increase in their funding following their successful Winter Olympics.

The World Class Programme has received increased funding of around £24 million from UK Sport in the lead up to the next Olympic cycle in Beijing 2022. This is an increase of 31% from the PyeongChang cycle, while Parasnowsports will receive up to £3.5 million, up 26%.

An investment of £6.75 million as gone towards British Ski & Snowboard, which is an increase of around 31% from the PyeongChang cycle. Parasnowsports will receive up to £3.5 million, up 26% from the previous cycle.

The investment will be spread across more snowsports disciplines and programmes, providing more money for athletes in the hope of increasing the medal haul at the next Olympics.

Vicky Gosling OBE, British Ski & Snowboard CEO said: “It is not only a sign of the progression British snowsports has made in recent years, it also shows UK Sport believe we will continue to generate more Olympic medals on snow, something that hadn’t even been achieved before 2014.”

“Our aim is to be one of the top five snowsports nations by 2030, and we need to be competitive across a range of disciplines if we are going to get there. Over the course of the next four years we’re going to see more investment across more sports, while ensuring our park and pipe programme remains right up there with the best in the world.”

British Ski & Snowboard and Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) have announced that their Olympic and Paralympic teams will now be merged into one world class programme.
