Broken leg for Alcott

Chemmy Alcott
Britain’s Chemmy Alcott has suffered a broken leg in a crash in Lake Louise, Canada.
The 28-year-old crashed in a training run on the eve of the World Cup downhill race, losing her balance after a tricky first jump – the Coaches Corner – a steep, upper part of the course.
The accident, which happened on Friday 3 December, has left the British skier with two breaks in her right leg, one the shin bone. And it’s likely that her season is now over.
Naturally, this is a big blow for the British team. Chemmy was preparing for what she hoped would be another successful winter, following her improving results in Super-G and Giant Slalom - as well as her 11th place in Vancouver.
The Lake Louise course had already been criticised as too icy after organisers injected it with water to compensate for a lack of snowfall.
