Sunshine Village - 26 March. Not the powdery bits!

Banff-Lake Louise has recently announced that Sunshine Village has just set the record for its largest snowfall in the resort’s 84 year history.

Measuring a total amount of snow that has fallen since opening day last November, Sunshine Village has seen a whopping 910cm – just shy of 10 metres of snow. And it is still falling in March. Nearby Lake Louise has reported its fifth best winter ever too.

Western Canada’s season has been a splendid one, mainly because snowfalls have been regular and heavy each month. Mid-mountain snow depths are still around 200cm and the resorts have received between 20 and 35cm new snow in the past week. Conditions are now more spring-like, with brighter and warmer weather; but all three areas are fully open.

Lake Louise – still plenty of snow around
