Former Pusscat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, broadcaster Anthea Turner and five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave are among the celebrities taking part in Channel 4’s new winter sports TV show, The Jump.

There are 12 famous faces in all — six men and six women — learning the sports of ski cross, slalom, skeleton, bobsleigh and speed skating for the TV show that will be broadcast live for 10 nights early next year in the run-up to the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Other competitors are socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, 80’s songstress Sinitta, Essex girl Amy Childs and TV presenter Melinda Messenger, along with ex-England cricket legend Darren Gough, comedian Marcus Brigstocke, celebrity hairdresser Nicky Clarke, socialite and party promoter Henry Conway and Sam Jones AKA Flash Gordon.

Britain’s former Olympic skier Graham Bell and Winter Olympic Skeleton gold medallist Amy Williams will be putting the celebrities through their paces, while ski coach Warren Smith is currently overseeing their training, along with Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards.

Eddie said: “This competition is as much about mental strength as it is about physical agility. Winter sports are tough to master; it takes skill, guts and determination to get round a course. The ultimate test will be The Jump itself. I know how hard it can be when the world is watching.”

The Jump will be presented by Davina McCall and Alex Brooker.
