Two new, much-awaited chairlifts have opened between Linga and Super-Châtel, completing the Portes du Soleil ski circuit.

The two high-speed lifts, a four-man and six-man chair lifts both leave from Vonnes, on the border of Châtel towards Morgins, a neighbouring resort on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil — where previously skiers needed to take a bus. The six-man “Portes du Soleil”, capable of transporting 2200 skiers per hour, goes from Vonnes to Super-Châtel, and the four-man “Gabelou” transports 1,800 skiers per hour to Linga.

The link opened on 30 January.

“This new link (which we were told to expect for next season, not this season) is a very welcome development,” said Editor Gill.

“Skiers based in central Chatel can now ride up to Super-Chatel and then proceed via pistes and lifts to Avoriaz and the rest of the PdS circuit, cutting out the traditional bus ride to Linga.”
