A mountain restaurant in Zermatt will be serving up in-flight meals on SWISS flights this winter.

The family-run Chez Vrony is a long-standing favourite restaurant of both the editors and readers of Where to Ski and Snowboard. It has created a range of dishes for SWISS as part of the airline’s “Taste of Switzerland” concept — available on long-haul flights from December.

Business class passengers can choose from a range of Chez Vrony dishes including carpaccio of air-dried meat from Valais with a hazelnut vinaigrette, Belper Knolle cheese and fig chutney, smoked Raron perch from the Valais with saffron rouille and mixed leafs or sliced veal Valais-style.

Passengers in first class will be offered the famous Chez Vrony burger. To complement all dishes SWISS will be serving wines and cheeses from the region.

“The SWISS Taste of Switzerland culinary concept has been in place aboard our long-haul fleet in SWISS first and SWISS business since 2002,” said Benedict Fanconi from SWISS.

“It promotes the different parts of Switzerland through their culinary highlights and showcases local products from the featured region, such as cheese, wine and other specialties. For every change in season, a new canton is featured on board, and a local restaurant or hotel is selected to create menus on board.”

The Chez Vrony dishes will be available in all business and first class long-haul flights from 5 December this year until 4 March 2014.
