Heston Blumenthal is planning the Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience in Courmayeur

The Italian ski resort of Courmayeur is already known for its amazing mountain restaurants and dining experiences, but in February this moves up a notch with the first Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience.

Brainchild of super-chef and keen skier Heston Blumenthal and Amin Momen, founder of Momentum Ski, the four-day ski gourmet festival will be a celebration of the rustic cuisine found in Courmayeur in the Aosta Valley.

Heston has invited fellow chefs Sat Bains (Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms) and Marcus Wareing (The Berkeley) to cook four gourmet dinners during the event from Sunday 2 February to Wednesday 5 February, bringing the new winter ski gourmet festival to life. Both Bains and Wareing have two Michelin stars each, and will offer skiers during the week an unforgettable fine-dining experience, creating menus that celebrate the produce and wines of the Aosta Valley region for gastronomic, post-slope revelry.

A keen skier, Blumenthal has returned Courmayeur as one of his preferred destinations for several years. “I came late to skiing; I only started about six or seven years ago,” he said. “I instantly loved it. Courmayeur quickly became one of my favourite ski haunts as it offers such amazing hospitality in its mountain restaurants, serving big plates of regional antipasti and bowls of homemade pasta.  I realised it was my perfect holiday.  Easy to get to location, incredible hospitality, great tasting rustic food and amazing wines.”

The special dinners by chefs Sat Bains and Marcus Wareing will run on Monday 3 February and Tuesday 4 February. Package prices for the Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience are from £2,500, per person based on two people sharing and include flights, private transfer, three nights’ accommodation in a 4-star hotel, ski passes, ski hire, beginner ski school lessons, Vallée Blanche excursion * and three gourmet dinning experiences with wines. Lunches are exclusive of above but various festival options will be offered.
