Discounted ski passes are back in Switzerland, across resorts including Saas-Fee, Crans Montana and Grimentz-Zinal — and if you buy this weekend you are guaranteed a bargain.

The Magic Pass is back this year, a season lift pass covering 32 ski resorts in Vaud, Wallis and Freiburg — as well as a couple in Bern and Neuerburg — for just CHF499 (around £385) for adults, CHF299 (around £230) for children, if you buy before noon on 8 October.

The Magic Pass is valid from 3 November 2018 until 30 April 2019, though some glaciers will be available until 5 May 2019. The Magic Pass covers resorts including Anzère, Châteaux d’Oex, Crans Montana and Grimentz-Zinal and more than 1000km of slopes, some 14 snowparks and an Olympic halfpipe.

After 8 October the price will increase, and will slowly continue to creep up until its full price of CHF899 is reached. So buy early, visit magicpass.ch

Meanwhile, Saas-Fee is again launched crowdfunding for its WinterCARD for the 2018-19 ski season; a lift pass for the entire winter that covers Saas-Fee, Saas-Frund and Saas-Almagell for just CHF255, so long as 66,666 orders are placed before 31 October.

That’s less than £200 for an entire season, so if you’re planning a week’s skiing in Saas-Fee this winter, place your order now. While the resort hasn’t released its winter ski pass rates, in the last (2016) edition of Where to Ski and Snowboard, six days cost CHF370; so that’s a hefty saving.
