In the UK for Easter but want to keep the kids entertained with a snowy adventure or two? Why not take them down to an indoor ski centre.

The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempsted is launching The Cresta Run for the Easter holidays. The 67m long slope will be sculpted with banked turns, bumps and small jumps, which children can use in three different ways during the half-hourly sessions.

Older children (over 13 years) can try airboarding. Tobogganing using the Alpine Zipfy bob or sliding down in a rubber ring (Ringo) will appeal to younger children. And adults can take part too!

Alpine Zipfy is the small red (usually) plastic, light sledge big enough only to seat you and a steering pole. Airboarding is rather more adventurous and you hurtle down the slope head first, lying on an inflatable tea-tray with handles.

The sports will be available from this Saturday 16 April. Half-hourly sessions run on Fridays between (4pm-11pm), Saturdays (9am-1pm & 7pm-8pm) and Sundays (9am-1pm & 7pm-8pm). Prices start at £9.50 (child) or £12.50 (adult), but can vary according to the child’s age.
