Engelberg opens weekends

Snowy slopes at Stand - 20 October 2009
Engelberg in Switzerland will open for some glacier skiing and boarding from this weekend, 24 October.
Taking advantage of recent snowfall, the resort has announced plans to open two red runs on Titlis, served by the Ice-Flyer chairlift and glacier T-bar on Saturday 24 October and Sunday 25 October – and on subsequent weekends, snow permitting.
Reported snow cover is 65cm at altitude on the Titlis slopes and 5cm at valley level.
For later season visitors, the resort has been busy improving facilities up at Trübsee 1800m. Capacity on the Trübsee-Hopper quad chairlift has been increased by 30% to make it easier to get up the mountain to the Jochpass slopes. You can stay up there too; the Hotel Trübsee overlooks the slopes and has been fully refurbished for 2009/10. A self-service restaurant and bar are new additions. The hotel plans to reopen on 11 December.
