Engelberg’s Trübsee hotel officially opened its new attractions on 11 December.

The mountain hotel has rebuilt and remodelled its entrance and dining areas, as well as adding a new bar and terrace. Work began last April and has continued throughout the summer and autumn, in preparation for the new winter season. Combined, the restaurants seat about 300 people inside and another 400 outside.

The wood and stone design is welcoming and attractive, contemporary but with natural materials and timber-beamed sections around the self-service and table-service areas. The decorative features add to the homely feel.

Improvements have focused on the self-service restaurant, which is now all on one level (previously the kitchens were separate). There is a new bar at the back, reached directly from the piste.

The Trübsee is situated at 1800m and the hub for the resort’s Titlis ski area, being at the top of the valley cable car station. The investment to improve the building has cost the lift company over 7 million Francs.
