First fully solar-powered ski area in Colorado

The ski area of Wolf Creek aims to be 100% solar powered by December
Wolf Creek ski area in Colorado is making strides towards being the first ski area in the USA to be 100% solar energy powered.
The ski area currently receives all of its power from the state’s Penitente Solar Project which is located approx 50 miles away, and is able to produce 7,000 metawatt-hours per year. Wolf Creek requires about 1,000 mega-watt hours per hour and during times of low sunshine, Wolf Creek is able offset green power in exchange for wind energy.
Sustainable ski resorts are not uncommon, there are currently more than 50 leading ski areas generate their own green power, mainly via hydro and wind power sources, and are 100% renewable energy fuelled (according to ski resort research body SaveourSnow.com), some of these resorts even export excess green energy back to the grid. While Sqaw Valley-Alpine Meadows in California, aims to be powered by 100% clean, renewable energy sources by the end of 2018.
