Off-piste ski guide to Scotland published

“Scottish Offpiste Skiing and Snowboarding" covers Ben Nevis and the Nevis Range
The first guide to off-piste skiing in Scotland has been published by local ski guide Kenny Biggin.
“Scottish Offpiste Skiing and Snowboarding: Nevis Range and Ben Nevis” was launched on Friday, 15 November, after years of careful research. It includes detailed descriptions, diagrams, photos and an easy-to-understand grading system of myriad itineraries in the area.
Many of the 91 routes listed over 200 pages are accessible from the ski lifts on Aonach Moor, and while some are “a very serious undertaking” Mr Biggin says some others are more mellow routes perfect for those looking for “a less committing first foray into the backcountry”. The guide also includes a selection of tours.
There is a chapter on the history of off-piste skiing on Ben Nevis and development of the Nevis Range resort, as well as an introduction to safety and avalanche awareness.
The book costs £18.95 and is available from ski shops and online at skimountain.co.uk
