The Saint Louis hotel in Courchevel 1850 was a hive of activity at the weekend (10-12 December), when the place celebrated its season opening under the Flexiski banner. And Where to Ski and Snowboard was there to join the party.

The three-night special at the hotel, which has been renovated for this winter and is Flexiski’s flagship property, dedicated Friday and Saturday nights to live entertainment as part of their opening weekend – the highlight being a concert by pop band The Feeling on Saturday night.

Up to 80 guests were staying at the St Louis over the weekend, including a group led by ski racing legend Konrad Bartelski, all out on Courchevel’s slopes to enjoy the good early season snow. Heather Mills (former wife of Beatle Sir Paul McCartney) was another of the celebrity guests, a keen skier and also there to promote her range of vegan meals – some of which were options on the hotel’s four-course evening menus.

The party got going on Friday afternoon, with après-ski entertainment from locally based group Bring Your Sisters, and drinks, canapés and sumptuous cakes in the hotel’s cosy Cognac Corner and new bar area, 1226. Saturday was gala night, with the excitement building for the arrival of The Feeling.

The band played after dinner to allow more special guests to arrive and for the dining area to be rearranged as the dance floor. The atmosphere was electric and intimate, as the group, led by Dan Gillespie, rocked their way through a series of 80s and 90s cover numbers as well as some of their own chart hits – Never be Lonely, Fill My Little World and Love It When You Call.

Guests enjoyed a quieter Sunday on the Three Valley’s slopes before departing on Monday.

The Saint Louis is a chalet style hotel, just a convenient few steps from the Bellecote green run at the upper end of the village. The hotel has 34 rooms including a more exclusive suite area occupying the upper floor of the building. There’s a choice of room sizes, with Flexiski offering short breaks or weekly stays. Downstairs, there’s a new bar 1226, and cosy Cognac Corner where you can relax and nibble canapés.

We had an excellent few days there, as you can read in our blogs …
