Britain’s best slopestyle skier, James “Woodsy” Woods, is continuing his brilliant season with a bronze at the X-Games in Aspen.

Nicknamed the “fridge kid” because he learned to ski on an indoor slope in the UK, 21-year-old Woods went into yesterday’s final in first place, having scored 92.66 points in the qualification round on Saturday.

But in the final he scored 92.00 and was beaten by American Nick Goepper (94.00) and Sweden’s Henrik Harlaut (92.66).

Woods is now a firm British medal favourite for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. He earned his first invite to The X-Games Aspen 2013 having taken thirdplace at XG Tignes in 2011 and a second at the 2012 AFP World Championships.

Earlier this month, the 21-year-old won a historical consecutive second World Cup event in Copper Mountain.
