Get set to elbow the crowds away from your local Aldi on Thursday 4 December when its Ski Specialbuys drops into stores.

We haven’t seen the kit ourselves, but the German supermarket’s Specialbuys ranges are normally great value — and this year looks no different.

Aldi makes no bones about its kit being for entry-level skiers and snowboarders (though the ski jacket and salopettes look more suited to two planks) — perfect for beginners, occasional skiers and children.

Aldi’s merino wool baselayer cost just £15.99

Adult salopettes are a bargain £16.99 and jackets £19.99; both featuring 3M Thinsulate wadding, snow cuffs and side ventilation available in men’s sizes M-XL and women’s sizes S-L.

There’s also a softshell jacket, with mesh lined body and sleeves and fixed, storable hood, made in rip-stop fabric for £24.99 and softshell trousers for £17.99.

Merino baselayers are a great bargain at £15.99 and the socks — made with silk — are £4.99.

The supermarket’s ski socks, made with silk, retail at £4.99

This year Aldi has introduced a snowboard range for kids — including a suit for £19.99, gloves for £4.99 and goggles for £7.99.

What’s not to like? But as usual with Aldi’s Specialbuys, and in the words of another famous supermarket: when it’s gone, it’s gone…
