Fancy closing out the season in May? The Ski Club of Great Britain has introduced a new holiday, designed to give ski tourers a last winter thrill on the snow when other tour operators have finished for the season.

Ski Freshtracks is an experienced company and has good late-season packages in the key resorts. And with April regularly delivering fine conditions, plus this season’s good snowfalls, this year might be the time to try a late trip.

New to Freshtracks for 2011/12 is the May Bank Holiday ski touring trip, centred around the Swiss town of Interlaken. You need to have some ski touring experience already, but it’s a good opportunity for a weekend away. The first stop is the Jungfrau mountains, up high to the Trugberg (3880m). So, there’s plenty of climbing involved as well as the easier glide down sections.

The price of £630.00pp includes two nights in a 2-star hotel (B&B) and two nights half-board in mountain huts. It also includes a mountain guide and relevant equipment.

The holiday starts on Thursday 3 May and finishes on Monday 7 May.

Alternatively, why not consider one of their other trips – to the altitude resorts of the Espace Killy. Tignes an Val d’Isère enjoy long seasons, and are good April choices. A couple of examples are given on our Deals page.
