It’s been snowing again over the weekend, with resorts in the Alps receiving a good dusting of snow — which is continuing today in the higher resorts where the likes of Obergurgl, Val Thorens and Les Deux-Alpes are currently experiencing some wintery conditions.

Over in Norway, however, the ski resort of Hemsedal has decided to extend its season by a week until Sunday 11 May following an “unusually good” winter.

“With all this lovely snow it would be a shame to close as early as 4 May,” said Andreas Smith-Erichsen at SkiStar Hemsedal.

“We now have so much snow that we can be sure of a great ski product far beyond the normal season. That’s why we have decided to extend the season by a week.”

The traditional closing weekend festival will be held on 2 and 3 May, after which Hemsedal will close its lifts and slopes until 9 May, when they will reopen until 11 May. All season passes are included.

And in Canada, another weekend of snow in Lake Louise gave superb conditions, with 51cm of fresh snow between over the past seven days. Earlier this month the ski resort also announced it would be extending its season until 11 May.
