Serre Chevalier Vallée will have a fleet of 40 Renault Twizy cars for skiers this season

The electric car revolution is filtering down to the Alps this winter, with Renault Twizys set to become the latest way to find your way around a ski resort.

Serre Chevalier Vallée is one of the resorts leading the charge to install a fleet of 40 Twizys for skiers to hire during their stay.

Serre Chevalier is France’s largest, stand-alone ski resort and comprises three typical Alpine villages (Le Monétier les Bains, Villeneuve-La Salle, Chantemerle-Saint Chaffrey), 13 hamlets and Briançon, an UNESCO World Heritage site.

The two-seater Renault Twizy cars, equipped with a ski holder, a little boot and snow tyres, will be located in each village, available to holidaymakers to hire for €20 a day or €60 a week.

The scheme is one of the last ways in which Serre Chevalier Vallée has continued to invest in its infrastructure. For this season, the resort has replaced the Croix de la Nore draglift with a four-person fixed grip chairlift, and last year replaced the Chantemerle cable car with an eight-seat gondola.

Serre Chevalier Vallée is located next to the Tarantaise Valley, about eight hours by car from Calais; by rail direct from Lyon or Paris to Briançon and via a good choice of airports — Turin, Grenoble and Lyon.
