Vail Resorts is extending the ski season this year at many of its destinations by as much as three weeks — and making this winter in Vail the longest ski season on record.

This winter’s snow pack has been helped by recent investment in snowmaking across many of the ski resorts in North America owned and operated by Vail Resorts means several areas — including Breckenridge in Colorado and Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia are extending their seasons into late May.

Kirkwood was due to end its season on 10 April but will now remain open until 1 May, as will Vail Mountain which will log the longest ski season on record for the Colorado resort (dependent on continued weather conditions). British Columbia is staying open until 23 May and Breckenridge until 30 May.

“No one likes to see the ski season come to an end, and thanks to our incredible employees who have worked so hard this season, we will be able to enjoy time on the snow a little longer this year,” said James O’Donnell of Vail Resorts.

“We are grateful to all of our pass holders and guests for their loyalty and passion, and we are pleased to be able to offer them a few more opportunities to ski and ride this winter season.”

All revised dates depend on weather conditions continuing.
