Inghams absorbs Ski Total chalets

Inghams will operation ten of Ski Total's catered ski chalets and one chalet hotel
Inghams has taken over the running of Ski Total and will market them under the snappy name “Ski Total by Inghams Chalet holidays”.
Ski Total has been running chalet holidays since the early Eighties, and around ten years ago was taken over by Hotelplan UK, which also owns the Inghams and Esprit Ski brands. It has been the company’s specialist chalet arm, operating chalets and chalet hotels across the Alps. A total of ten chalets and one chalet hotel will be marketed under the new “Ski Total by Inghams” brand, a substantial drop from the 82 chalets and nine chalet hotels that Ski Total operated across Europe in the 2017/18 ski season.
Last summer, Hotelplan UK closed its headquarters in Godalming and cut jobs in response to a challenging climate during the pandemic.
At the beginning of the 2020/21 ski season, Inghams started to operate some of Ski Total’s chalets, citing “significant operational challenges” posed by Brexit and coronavirus. Since then, the offering has been shaved to just a fraction of what it once was.
Hotelplan UK, part of the large Swiss company Hotelplan, said last winter that the British catered chalet market makes up just 10% of Inghams’ overall winter business.
The remaining “Ski Total by Inghams” chalets and chalet hotel are all catered and offer cooked breakfast, tea and four-course evening meals on six days of a week-long holiday.
Hotelplan UK CEO, Joe Ponte tried to remain upbeat, describing the move as “very exciting”.
“By providing the same experienced Ski Total team and popular chalet options under our expert ski tour operator, Inghams, we are able to offer more of what our customers want in one place,” said Ponte.
“With our ‘home from home’ chalet holidays sitting under the Inghams umbrella, alongside our hotel and apartment options, chalet holidays will remain an important part of our Inghams programme and we will continue to offer our customers the ski and snowboard holidays they know and love.”
