The Austrian ski resort of Ischgl is adding six-seater chairlift for the coming winter that will be the fast chairlift in the resort.

The detachable six-seater Velilleck F1 will transport skiers up to the Pardatschgrat at a speed of six metres a second — a journey taking about six minutes. The backs of the seats in the lift will also be a special feature, with pictures of plants from the mountains around the ski resort.

Ischgl is also installing a heated eight-man chairlift called Visnitz N2, which will whisk skiers and snowboarders from the Alp Trida to the Visnitzkopf (2633m) in four and half minutes. The backs of the seats on this lift will provide a history lesson, with images from the history of Samnaun.

Ischgl in the Austrian Tirol will open on 28 November 2019, and run through until 3 May 2020. This year, it’s opening “Top of the Mountain” concert will be headlined by Berlin-based band Seed, on stage in the Silvretta car park from 1800. Next May’s closing concert is likely to be one to remember, it’s the 25th anniversary of the tradition that has featured acts including Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams and Elton John.
