The Austrian ski resort of Ischgl is unveiling a luxurious new six-seater chairlift this season.

The new high-speed Palinkopf chair, which replaces a 20-year-old four seater at a cost of €12million, has padded and heated seats, weather hoods and safety lock bars. On the back of the seats, the chair features images of each of the stars that have played the ski resorts famous Top Of The Mountain concerts at the opening and closing of each ski season.

The stars include Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Lionel Richie and Elton John — all of whom will help to transport skiers and snowboarders to 440m ascent to the Palinkopf mountain. The new six-man chair will carry 2,800 people per hour, in a six-minute journey time.

The old 4-seater lift has been sold on to a resort in Finland.

A new reservoir has been built for the 2017/18 ski season to support Ischgl’s 1,100 snow cannons. Viderböden reservoir has a cubic capacity of 52,000 and been built at a cost of €4.5 million to replace the 32,000 Idalp reservoir.
