It has been snowing in Utah and beyond

Doesn’t it look lovely against the autumn colours?

Colorado isn’t the only one: several days of snowfall left a juicy covering of the white stuff in parts of Utah this week. See our pics from The Canyons, where they received 10cm snow. Lovely, eh?

Snowbird also received its first significant snow of the season: 15cm on Wednesday, with further accumulations on Thursday. Of course, their official season figures don’t begin until November, so this doesn’t really count but they are hoping to beat the 16m of snow achieved in Little Cottonwood Canyon last season. The resort plans to open on 21 November.

The Canyons opens on 27 November and is gearing up for the new season with a 50% discount on various lodging, including the Grand Summit Hotel, Sundial Lodge and new for 2009/10 – the luxury Escala Lodges. You need to book before 15 December.

And it’s been wintry across Whistler, Canada too – early days yet, but well … it’s great to see snow on the ground.
