Heated chairlifts are now commonplace in Austrian ski resorts – Kitzbühel has 10 of them. Now Italy is having its first installed, a high-speed eight-seater near the ski resort of Selva in Val Gardena.

As you can see above, you won’t miss it as it is decked out in an eye-catching blue.

The chair cost 8 million euros and replaces the 30-year-old Gran Paradiso draglift above Plan de Gralba. It is longer than the old lift and goes to Passo Sella, providing a connection on the Sella Ronda clockwise circuit.

The new chair will increase capacity compared with the old draglift from 900 to 2,200 skiers per hour.
