Start your winter off next month with discounted ski and snowboard sessions thanks to Snowsport England’s “30 Days of Snowsport” initiative this October.

30 Days of Snowsport (30daysofsnowsport.org.uk) offers free and discounted skiing at venues across the UK for people wanting to get their ski legs back or to try snowsports for the first time.

The iniative is now in its fifth year and runs from 1-30 October at indoor ski centres, dry slopes, snowsports clubs and even roller ski venues up and down the country. With more sessions likely to be added, there are already more than 300 sessions on offer — with Snowsport England hoping to build on numbers from last year, when more than 6000 people took advantage of 98 free or discounted sessions at 20 different venues or clubs.

There are ski and snowboard beginner and taster sessions throughout October for complete beginners at the Chill Factore in Manchester; daily ‘Learn to Ski & Snowboard’ sessions at SnowDome in Tamworth, a free taster day at the North Staffordshire Ski Club on 13 October and a “Try Roller Skiing” day at Dorney Lake in Eton on 14 October.

Manchester Cross Country Ski Club is offering an open session on 20 October and there are roller skiing sessions in West Yorkshire throughout October. Chatham Ski and Snowboard Centre is offering open ski sessions over the weekend of 20-21 October, while Kendal Ski Club is offering and taster and open sessions throughout the month.

As well as taster sessions, 30 Days of Snowsport events include open days, races, competitions and freestyle events. On 6 October, there is the Futures Project at Kendal Ski Club, a day run by the GP Park and Pipe team aimed at aspiring freestyle skiers and snowboarders.
