Not on the slopes this weekend but want to pretend you’re in the mountains? How about taking part in a record attempt at creating the world’s longest ski lift queue?

If you live in London, or happen to be visiting this weekend, you can do just that. This Saturday, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is combining its expertise for quality, precision and skiing with the British love of queuing to establish a world record for the longest ski-lift queue. The stunt is to generate publicity for its new campaign: SWISSED – just as holiday makers are getting ready for their half term skiing break.

On Saturday 28 January from 12 noon to 3pm, SWISS will create a winter wonderland in the middle of London at Tower Bridge, giving passers-by a taste of the Swiss Alps with ‘real snow’. There will also be a Swiss etiquette expert to give Brits a crash course on Swiss skiing etiquette from how to tackle the ski-lift queue to making sure their skiing selfies are risk free.

The world record attempt will take place on the banks of the Thames at The Tower Hotel, Tower Bridge and if you do plan to pitch up, you stand a chance of winning a range of goodies from some Swiss chocolate to some ski kit. There’s also a chance to enter a competition being run in conjunction with Switzerland Tourism to win seven nights for two at the four-star RAMADA Hotel Regina Titlis in Engelberg including six-day ski passes, half-board and use of the wellness facilities and SWISS business class flights.

SWISS provides frequent flights to the Alps from London City, Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester airports, as well as free transport for ski and snowboard equipment.
