Laax gets family approval

Family fun time in Flims
Laax in Switzerland is usually associated with snowboarding and major freestyle events. But this winter the ski area, which includes Flims, has received an award for its family-friendly facilities too.
The Family Welcome award is granted by the Swiss Federation of Tourism, to recognise resorts that focus on the needs of families and children on their slopes.
Laax and its neighbour Flims are doing a pretty good job: Flims has a sizeable and quiet kids’ nursery area and both resorts have introduced ‘Wonderlands’ – enclosed snow areas with cartoon characters, educational areas and teaching zones. The ski schools have a good reputation too.
The ski area is still relatively unkown among British visitors, but has steadily acquired a following; recent marketing of the swanky new Rocks Resort complex has helped. It offers smart apartments and convenience at the Laax base.
