The 11th Burton European Open snowboard event kicks off in Laax, Switzerland on 9 January for a week of high-level competition in the terrain park.

The BEO is the second stop on Burton’s Global Open Series and attracts professional and amateur riders to Laax’s Crap Sogn Gion freestyle area. What’s more, when the BEO is in resort there is a great chilled and party atmosphere up on the slopes.  Many spectators relax on the top-station terrace in between ski runs, which overlooks the park.

This year, the tour takes on a circus theme so there could be some clowns in action slopeside and at the Crazy Circus Party – set for Saturday 15 January.

The junior riders begin the action on 9 January, followed by the men and women’s half-pipe competitions next week. In the resort, there will be various après-ski events at the Riders Palace and new Rocksresort complex.

And then there is the 220km of the Laax/Flims ski area to explore too; it makes a marvellous intermediate destination.

The Opensnowboarding website has more information on the tour and video streaming from Laax.
