Lech, Austria Friday 21 January

If you are wondering about the lack of snowfall recently, these pictures from Lech in Austria this morning (Friday 21 January) might cheer you up – sent to us by Moira Clarke of Ski Total / Esprit Ski. That is if you’re heading for Austria or the eastern Swiss Alps …

Thanks to a fall in temperatures and a few weather systems skirting around the more easterly Alpine regions, the Arlberg has received wintry showers – with a good 3-5cm reported overnight. And it’s not just confined to the Arlberg; other Tirol resorts have reported top-up of a good 10-15cm this week. It has been much colder than of late too: St Anton reports minus 4 (village level) to minus 14 degrees.

Chalet Hotel Alexandra, Lech

Moira writes: “These images are straight from Lech this morning after a night of snow – look at the car outside our Chalet Hotel Alexandra – covered in fresh powder!
There seem to be rumours circulating of a lack of snow – hope these images sort them.”

If you are thinking of a family holiday before the half-term rush, then Esprit Ski has a good deal on for Obergurgl: prices from £199pp for a family of four or five, staying in the Chalet Verwall for 7 nights from 30 January. Get in touch via www.espritski.com of call them on: 01252 618 300.
