Les Arcs to celebrate British skiers

The French ski resort of Les Arcs will celebrate Britain's love affair with the Alps in March
The French ski resort of Les Arcs is hosting a week-long celebration of all things British at the end of March. With some 45 per cent of the resort’s visitors coming from the UK, Les Arcs has decided it’s time to celebrate Britain’s love affair with the Alps.
“Since the early days of alpinism in the 19th century, when heroes like Edward Whymper and Albert Mummery made their mark on the Alps, the British have always loved the altitude the snow and now the ski experiences,” said a spokesman for the resort.
“Les Arcs knows more than anyone else how passionate the Brits are about skiing and are acknowledging how much they value UK skiers by organising a whole week dedicated to British snow-lovers this season.”
The Great British Celebration in Les Arcs will run from 25 to 31 March with a range of parties, skiing, offers and events to celebrate the resort’s ties with the UK. During the week Les Arcs will be decked out in British colours, from the railway station in Bourg St Maurice to the summit of Aiguille Rouge at 3,226m. There will be races on skis and sledges between Brits and the French, as well as a Robin Hood tournament and British Family Party in Arc 1950.
Michel Giraudy, Mayor of Les Arcs, said: “Brexit or not Brexit, that’s not the question! British skiers are welcome in Les Arcs like it’s their home. By creating the Great British Celebration we want to reassert our friendship with the British, to make French people discover the rich Anglo-saxon culture and celebrate our union.”
Les Arcs is offering a special deal of £258pp per week for Brits, to include seven days’ accommodation and a Paradiski lift pass. For more information visit lesarcs-reservation.com
