The glacier at Les Deux-Alpes will open for skiing and snowboarding on Saturday 21 June.

The French resort has the largest skiable glacier in Europe, situated at 3600m. After good snowfalls this spring, it will remain open until Saturday 30 August, and Les Deux-Alpes is expecting to host around 1,500 skiers and snowboarders a day over the summer months.

Slalom courses will be set up on the glacier for racing teams training in Les Deux-Alpes over the summer, and there is an 18-hectare snow park for all levels of skier and snowboarder.

The lifts will also open that weekend (21 June) for mountain biking as well as hikers and trail runners planning to be active at altitude. The resort’s trails regularly attract more than 35,000 bikers during the summer.

Les Deux-Alpes is an alpine resort not just for the winter, but it is one of Europe’s best summer mountain sports destinations, with lifts opening from Saturday 21 June to Saturday 30 August 2014. With excellent conditions on the glacier for summer skiing, new trails opening for mountain biking and a jam packed calendar of events, there is something on offer for everyone this summer.
